Is it real? No. But that's not the point. There is more than one parody
on Youtube about "Geico Guidos" and they are all pretty much the same.
An Italian (real or fake) is loud, flamboyant and violent. Of course,
pasta is involved. Now, I do understand what a parody is and I also
understand what Anti-Italianism is. These videos happen to be both.
Replace the "fake Italian" with a guy pretending to be Black (in black
face). Have a real black man sit next to him, while the actor eats
watermelon and chicken and talks in ebonics. Is that a parody or is it
thinly veiled racism? . |
